Corporate Events Planning

Corporate events are a great way to thank your employees for a job well done, to celebrate acquisition of an important client account or a merger as well as improving and strengthening existing client relations, to attract new and prospective clients, to enhance company branding, to thank customers for their business and to launch a new product line. The most common mistakes companies make in planning corporate events are having insufficient time to plan the event as well as just picking any venue available due to the time constraint. There are a few ways to avoid this. You want employees looking forward to corporate events because it is something they love about the company they represent.

Take a good look at your timeline so you know how much you can plan ahead. If in any case that the timeline is too short and feel that you will not be able to do the company event justice, let this be known and offer an alternative solution by suggesting hiring an event planner. If you have ample time, the first thing to do is identify what kind of event is to be implemented such as team building activities, exhibitions, conventions, conferences, seminars, holiday or seasonal parties, annual galas and client entertainment.

Second, determine the theme of the event such as a sports events and outdoor events for team building activities that enhance and build team dynamics or a barbecue event for a family day outing.

Third, get the head count and complete the invitation list. This will determine the size of the venue where the event should be held and the kind of activities that can be implemented throughout the event.

Fourth, get the budget if you are not the one responsible for making the budget list. This is important as this will determine the particulars that you have to plan such as the venue, the number and kind of activities that can be done and food and beverage.

Fifth, plan out the activities based on the budget. Take into consideration props and materials you need for this such as a stage for an annual party where co-workers are supposed to present their dance numbers or where the CEO starts his opening speech to officially open the festivities.

Sixth is looking for the venue which is probably the most important aspect in planning an event. Your venue will make the first impression as your guests arrive and a first impression is vital in making an event momentous. Take your time in searching for the right place online. Turn their website inside out to know exactly what you can achieve by renting that particular venue. Compare package deals meticulously if you find that this is cheaper than hiring your own caterer. Make calls in case the information on the website is unclear or incomplete. Before making your calls, make an outline of questions you would like to ask so you do not forget anything. Once you are done with this, visit the venues on foot. While visiting visualise on how you plan to decorate the venue. Take your own pictures so you have a visual reference in creating your decorations later on. Ask the venue representative specific questions such as props and decor allowed within the venue, the hourly rates in extending in any case that the event becomes such a blast and no one wants to leave. This goes the same for minor setbacks on the day of the event itself that might cause a little delay in starting the program. Do not leave until all your questions are answered. To help you with this bring a laptop for reference and to log the answers or a piece of paper if you prefer to write them down.

Athletic Ankle Supports

Sporting activities and athletic ankle supports are a good combination for children in sports. They help to keep children out of danger from major leg injuries that are common. Children are still growing and bone injuries can slow down bone growth on occasion, especially if the injury occurs on a growth plate. Athletic ankle supports can help to prevent major accidents from children landing in the wrong positions. They make sure that key ankle positions are maintained as to not allowing ankle injuries. There are still is a chance that a major ankle injury can happen but wearing athletic ankle supports are there for preventative measures.

When deciding on an ankle brace for your child it is important answer two questions in your mind. What is the brace made from and does the brace allow for total range of motion. In terms of total range of motion, for those children who have not had any previous ankle problems you would not want to purchase a brace that immobilizes the ankle. You would just want a brace that are designed to just provide pressure in key areas and keep the ankle in fairly the same place. Immobilizing ankle braces are a hindrance rather than a benefit if you were to purchase this kind of brace. A lightweight athletic elastic ankle support should be just fine for a child athlete.

Lets deal with the second question which was what is the brace made from. Why is this so important? It is a matter of having the brace to fail or not. You see when a child goes about doing a sport they sweat and water can be the enemy of any brace. They make the brace shift and if it shifts up or down it may fail when needed. Worse yet it may get so wet that it may become soft and not work as effective as it needs to. That being the case, the best ankle supports are made of neoprene and they not only support your ankle but increase your bounce, make your landings softer and keep your muscles warm. Neoprene or polychloroprene is a family of synthetic rubbers that are produced by polymerization of chloroprene. It is used in a wide variety of environments, such as in wetsuits, laptop sleeves, electrical insulation, and car fan belts.

Are you still thinking that you may not need ankle supports for you child. Maybe you are thinking that the high top sneakers that you brought yesterday are enough support needed. Yes, high top ankle sneakers do provide ankle support, but they just have the minimum support needed. Step up your security for your child and get the maximum support needed. Athletic ankle supports will provide what you need.

Sports Trivia Breakdown

There are two types of questions: more obvious sports trivia questions and obscure sports trivia questions.

For example, an obscure sports trivia question would be something like: Who finished second in the Master’s Golf Tournament in 2001? The answer is Ernie Els. Only diehard golf fans or sports trivia buffs would know this answer.

A more obvious question would be something like: Who is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher? The answer is Emmitt Smith. Most NFL fans would know the answer to this question.

There are thousands and possibly millions of obscure questions but not nearly as many obvious questions. So let’s take a look at some of the obvious questions for the major sports: football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. For all of these sports the records can be broken down by game records, season records and career records.

The major records for NFL football are passing, rushing, and receiving records. Here are three examples of the major ones:

Who holds the record for most touchdown passes in a career? Dan Marino, 420

Who holds the record for most passing yards in a career? Dan Marino, 61,361

Who holds the record for most touchdowns caught in a career? Jerry Rice, 197

The major records for basketball are points scored and rebounds. Here are two major records:

Who holds the record for most points in a season? Wilt Chamberlain, 4029

Who holds the record for most rebounds in a game? Wilt Chamberlain, 2,149

The major records for baseball generally deal with batting and pitching. The major categories for batting are batting average, hits, RBI, and homeruns. Here are two examples of major batting records:

Who holds the record for most hits in a season? Ichiro Suzuki, 262

Who holds the record for most homeruns in a career? Hank Aaron, 755

Generally the biggest pitching records deal with wins, saves, strikeouts, and earned run average (ERA). Here are two examples of major pitching records:

Who holds the record for most strikeouts in a game? Tom Cheney, 21 (16 innings pitched in an extra inning game)

Who holds the record for most wins in a season? Old Hoss Radbourn, 59

For hockey the major records revolve around goals scored, points, assists, and saves. Here are a couple examples:

Who holds the record for goals in a season? Wayne Gretzky, 92

Who holds the record for most shutouts in a career? Terry Sawchuk, 103

There are also many records for teams in all sports. However, most sports trivia questions are based on individual records.

Some records won’t last for long, while other records may fall very soon.

We just saw the record for most touchdowns in a season fall when LaDanian Tomlinson shattered the old record. We also saw Peyton Manning set the record for most touchdown passes in a season. This coming season Brett Favre may set a new record for touchdown passes in a career.

In baseball Barry Bonds is closing in on Hank Aaron’s homerun record. However, the record for most wins in a season will probably never be broken.

There are all types of sports trivia questions that can be asked and there are many more sports that can be included. To know many of the answers a person would have to be a sports fan and a bit of a history buff.

Sports Handicapping Services Explained

If you bet on sports, or perhaps even if you don’t, you most likely know what a sports handicapping service is. Most people know that they give out sports picks, but what is happing behind the scenes? Are all sports handicapping services the same? Do they really win often? What is inside information? This article will explain the sports handicapping profession by answering these questions. While every sports handicapping service operates in a different way, there are some common elements integrated into each one.

Inside Information

For decades sports handicapping services have touted their inside information” as a reason why you should pay them. Before the Internet really took hold in the mid 1990′s, this was by in large accurate. It was necessarily that the sports handicapping service knew the players, it was the fact that they had access to information that, by in large, most sports bettors did not. In fact, unless you lived in Las Vegas or knew someone, your sports information was limited to what was in the general media.

The Internet changed all of that. Today, the average sports bettor has access to a plethora of information. Dare I say, the average sports bettor today has most access than did even the most informed sports handicapping service did before the Internet took off. The Internet has change betting on sports in so many ways. Sports bettors can easily shop lines, get information straight from teams and reports 24/7, bet on sports online, access mounds of stats and so much more.

The Call Center

The call center is still thriving and it’s where operators stand by to give you, the sports bettor, a selection or sell you on a service. Technology has greatly changed this area of sports handicapping, but it’s still around. One trick less ethical sports handicapping services use it to alternate their free selection. Let’s say that there’s a free pick advertised on an NBA game between the L.A. Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs. Caller one would be told that the lock” selection of the day is the Lakers. Caller two would be told the lock” selection of the say is the Spurs. Caller three would hear the Lakers and so on and so forth. Why would they do this? Well, by alternating, the unethical handicapping service is guaranteed to hit 50% and that means half of the callers become potential clients since they received a free winner. Unfortunately, it’s an effective technique.

The Free Sports Pick

We talked about free sports picks in the previous section. Every sports handicapping service has free sports picks. It’s the most used advertising tool out there. The goal is to give you a winner (or a good percentage of winners), so you can’t help but want their really good stuff. In the old days, you would get free sports picks by watching TV, reading media (like magazines) or calling up free pick lines. Today, free selections are all over the Internet. In fact, if you look long enough, you will probably end up with a 50/50 split on any game you seek out.

There’s no real set pricing structure. Every service is different. Many services try to sell you season packages or special event packages. This way they can lock down money and concentrate on selecting games. Also, if you buy a season or event package, it makes their job much easier since they have a guaranteed customer. If you purchase daily picks, they have to keep working hard to earn you as a client. A couple of bad days and they lose you. If you are locked in for the season or event, it does not matter as much.
